About the Class:
Do you love letterpress printing and you've always wanted to know how it works and what's involved? This is the lecture for you. In this introductory lecture for beginners you'll learn the basics of letterpress printing including the general mechanics of platen presses, tutorial of setting type, an overview of designing and prepping files for photopolymer plates, mixing ink and preparing the press for printing. We will also review material sources and tips and techniques we use in our full-time letterpress studio.

A portion of this lecture is hands-on -- attendees will set type and print inkless cards on a tabletop Chandler & Price Pilot press (pictured above).
